One night as we were preparing dinner for Bible Study... we were waiting for the students to arrive at 6:30pm.

6:27pm... no one shows up
6:30pm... still... no one...

6:35pm... hm... where is everybody?

6:40pm... "We've prepared a feast... how come no one's here yet?" - Yang

"Ok, let's go out and gather the hungry and..." - Grace

"and... vandalize." - Yang

"E-HEM! You mean... evangelize?" - Ernie

"Oh my..." - Tony

School's out. Well... some of us are waiting for Session C to start.

I must say we had a wonderful semester and ended it with a fabulous trip to Monterey. With all the things learned, we want to look forward to a great summer w/ another fun-filled Kairos trip coming up.

Yesterday night was a wonderful night in which the students who are still here in Berkeley hosted the staff to a wonderful potluck dinner. From Liz and Bethany's vegetarian lasagne to Kevin Tan's 'cinnamon delight,' we experienced cuisine at all levels (James' Chinese Chicken to Hung and Eugene' good ol' American porkchops). Not to also overlook Casper's green bean desert, the student's exceeded all expectations especially over one staff's earlier comment, "Will the food be edible??"

Then we had a nice time of praise and worship, acknowledging all the blessings we've received from God this past year. It was a very, very moving and nice time. Full Kairos One band will be formed soon enough!

We ended the night with each of us sharing a 1 month commitment (just 1 month) of a particular 'fast' that would instill greater discipline and help us steward our time this summer. From sweet tooth 'addiction' to videogaming, we acknowledged things that can be removed from our lives, that would be of great benefit to us, in an effort to replace such activity with more edifying things.

Other fun activities we enjoyed this semester - a schnazzy chocolate fondu night after Bible Study. Mmm... yummy!

A neat dinner on the patio outside of the Y, as we say au revoir for a little while to Annie who will be studying abroad one semester in Brazil! We'll miss you, Annie!

Worldview Camp

Gracepoint Worldview Camp is a time set aside in the summer to devote yourself to intensive study and discourse over topics designed at helping Christians think and live in accord with a biblical worldview. The topics range from hot button issues in culture from relativism, intelligent design, marriage, sexual ethics and abortion to the lies that go unchallenged in the media, literature, academic institutions and within the public sphere. This year we are thrilled to have Dr. John Bloom as our principal speaker. He is the director of the M.A. Program in Science and Religion and Professor of Physics at Biola University and who holds expertise in the area of not only topics involving science and faith but in biblical archaeology and history.

We encourage you to participate in at least one camp before your college career is over in order to better prepare yourself for the challenges to your faith within the different arenas you will find yourself in in the future!

When: June 18-21 (Wed-Sat)

Since last night was the last Kairos 1 Bible Study, feedback sheets were passed out to everyone. As people are filling them out...

G: Hi guys, please think of some ways that we can improve our Bible Studies and Activites. Don't worry, the feedback can be unanimous.

After fondue, we are standing around, talking...

C: (looked around) aww..., you guys are all science majors.
T: (placed a hand on C's shoulder) you know, but I really admire the fact that you are a English major.
C: (puzzled) ...but I am not a English major.
T: ...never mind...

The semester is coming to an end, and the stress is ever so great. He-who-must-not-be-named (also known as Finals) has arrived! Hang in there, it will all be over in two weeks. On a sadder note, along with finals, we will have the final Kairos One Bible Study of the semester this coming Friday. We will start with dinner at 6:30, a home-cooked meal by our very own Ernestine (menu: TBA), followed by a refreshing time of studying the scripture.

After that, we will have our after bible study activity..............Study Time! What do you expect? It is finals time after all. However, we will do some cool personality test to find out who you really are...and get a good laugh out of it =D

So join us: 6:30pm @ The Y

Hey hey!

Refreshed, energized, and ready to take on the end of the semester!

A bunch of us enjoyed the beautiful Monterey and the golden sun rays this past weekend (Fri-Sat 4/25-4/26). Upon arrival, we filled the night with fun games and light snacks. And we woke up w/ a splash playing water basketball, tennis, and then finally sitting down to a nice quiet time of reflection through Psalm 23.

Our adventures included fishing for... fish? No, star-fish! And snails, other squishy water animals and the like. We roamed around the tide pools in search of mysterious sea creatures and afterward made our way over to the beach and set up camp fire before an amazing view of the ocean! After putting up the nets and playing a few rounds of badminton under the hot sun, we had some delish chicken wrapped with veggies cooked over the fire, with clam chowder on the side. And to top it off, we enjoyed some crazy banana boats for dessert!

Finally - we trekked over to Point Lobos to enjoy the beautiful sunset and be struck with awe of God's wonderful creation.

We had a blast at Monterey and definitely look forward to more fun-filled and memory-making adventures such as this one!

Kairos 1!!

This week, instead of meeting for our regular bible study, we will be having Gracepoint Monthly at First Pres. It will an exciting time to hear about what God has done this past month in other ministries. We will be having dinner beforehand at The Y at 6pm. Please be on time, since we will leave a little early to make sure that we get to First Pres on time.

After GM, we will be heading to The Y for some delicious smoothie (may vary depend on the weather) and watch some clips from Planet Earth, here is a not-so-short description:

The creators of Blue Planet: Seas of Life reunite to celebrate our remarkable planet as never before thought possible with a stunning trip into the wilderness shot on revolutionary high-definition cameras over the course of five years, and utilizing 40 cameramen in 200 locations. These are the scenes that simply were not possible with older filmmaking technology, and from the highest mountain peaks to the deepest river floors, Planet Earth sets out to capture on camera the most elusive creatures every known to humankind. Acclaimed actor David Attenborough narrates as the filmmakers of Planet Earth take viewers on a journey that is truly out of this world.
